Editorial

Well haven't I had trouble with this site. All of a sudden my FTP stopped working and no matter how many help lines I talked to, from my ISP to the hosting service, nobody could get it fixed, nothing they suggested worked. I even created a totally new site on a different host and that didn't work either.

Then someone suggested that I connect using a VPN and that did seem to work, partly. I could get FileZilla to upload but Dreamweaver (the program I've been using for 20+ years) was still a no go as were all my other FTP clients.

So I gave up, and to be honest was prepared to drop the whole website thing, after all I've been running this site for 27 years, maybe it's time to move on.

But just yesterday, after giving the whole thing a miss for 2-3 weeks, I decided to try Dreamweaver again and its FTP worked. What the heck?

I still can't get most of the FTP clients I use to work, but Dreamweaver and FileZilla do so that should be enough to get the show back on the road. And I've disabled the VPN which a week or so back seemed to be only way to get FileZilla to work although it didn't help Dreamweaver.

Sometimes I hate computers.

Till next time then, and remember,

Don't Dream it, Be it!

The deck is still coming along nicely.

Sat 27 May 2023

Today I decided to go for a drive with my new camera and just see what I can see.

Picking fruit with 'The Hummock' in the background.

The Hummock is the only hill in the Bundaberg area, and as you can see it's used for telecom towers. There are a lot of houses up there as well but they are not visible in this shot. Personally I would not like to live so close to all that EMF.

Then I move out to "Port", which as the name implies is Bundaberg's port, used mainly to off load sugar onto ships, and I see this old barn on the way.

The port area is mildly interesting with is industrial look.

Then it's a short drive to Burnett Heads.

And finally back into Bundaberg.

All in all a pleasent day out and one of my favourite ways to spend time, IE just driving around looking for photographs.

OK, that's enough fun, back on the tools now.

 More deck-building materials.

Sat 10 Jun 2023

I am a bit worried that over time some of these bearers will sag on the bolts holding them to the steel posts, after all there is already some play because the holes are one size larger than the bolts, and the timber will shrink over time which might make it worse.

So I take the weight off them with a jack and weld some small offcuts onto the posts to support the bearers.

It's starting to look like a real deck eh?

So I place a sheet of yellow tongue out there and a couple of chairs so we can pretend it's finished.

Back down to Hervey Bay today with Geri, and while we're out and about I grab a couple of photos of, and from, the Scarness jetty.

Returning from the range I decide to go home via the scenic route.

On Duckpond road I spot this forest Kingfisher perched on a log. I get as close as I dare and get a reasonably nice shot.

But really it's the bird and the barbed wire that are the subject and I can't get any closer. So when I get home I feed the image into Topaz Gigapixel.

That's a lot better, but I wonder just how far I can take this.

It is a little bit soft but still a very usable image as long as I don't want to print it too large.

In fact I've added it to my greeting card range.

Then finally I see this rural scene.
