Editorial

Once again the chronicle only covers a few days, I'm not sure how I will catch up at this rate.

The 'trouble' is that there are so many photographs, I suppose that's not a bad thing for a photographer's blog, but appologise to those more interested in how the house construction is going.

One other 'problem' with this chronicle in particular is that I consider all the photos here to be worthy of cataloguing for the photography section of this site, and that adds a LOT of work.

But don't dispair, there will be more construction stuff in the next issue.

Till next time then, and remember,

Don't Dream it, Be it!

Wed 23 Aug 2023

We're up long before sunrise and drive out to the point again.

I walk out on the cliff top to get a photo of the sunrise.

Then I look down and see the nice effect of the light on the crashing waves.

While taking the above photo I here a sort of "wump wump" sound and am slighty annoyed that someone is ruining the moment with noise.

Then I look up and see the cause of the sound.

Oh wow, that is fantastic.

I see a boat sailing in this direction, wouldn't it be great if I get a photo of a whale 'waving' to the boat. I wait, finger poised on the shutter button, and right on cue the whale obliges.

Even better, what about an image of a whale waving to a new day, you know, something that could have happened a million years ago.

OK, back to reality, here's a nice pic of some rocks.

Geri and I spend a few more hours in 1770 and Agnus Water then drive home.

Wed 30 Aug 2023

The view from home this morning, you gotta love that eh?

#35269 - Dawn in the valley, Moolboolaman

At this time of year there is a lot of burning going on and therefore a lot of smoke around. Mostly I think people are burning the cane although that practice has pretty much died these days. But also people are doing fuel-reduction burns before the summer bushfire season.

The mountain looks nice in the fog this morning.

I don't normally go into town on a weekend because I figure that there will be more people in the shops than during the week. So I'm not sure now why I was in Bundy on a Staurday but clearly I was because I have these photos.

I love photographing machinery, so when I saw this tractor heading up a field with a load of hay I stopped and waited until it was in a good spot.

Then I take a few photos in the main street.

#35271 - War memorial, Bundaberg, QLD

I posted this image on a local Facebook group and someone asked why the soldier's rifle is placed on his boot. I don't know for sure but I responded that it was probably to save the muzzle from being pushed into the dirt.

Oh em gee, will you just look at the number of photos I take before and after shooting at the Biggenden range.

#35275 - Sawmill scene, Boundary Creek, QLD (zoomable image)

I tried to work at this mill a few years ago. It's located just south of Gin Gin and I was buying a load of timber there and got talking to Jarod, the owner (I think, maybe the manager) and he was complaining that he can't find any workers. That's a coincidence I said as I can't find a job. I offered to work for free for two days in the saw mill to see if I could cut it (Cut it, saw mill, get it. Never mind, I'll see myself out.) and he seemed ammeanable to the idea.

But he never contacted me. No matter, I doubt I would have liked it there and sawmills can be pretty dangerous places. I do get it though, I think there would be too many issues with insurance etc to have someone working on site that wasn't an employee.

Anyway, moving on, I've seen this shack a 1000 times over the years but today finally decided to stop and take a photo or two.

After the shoot I drive out to Mt Walsh as I often do.

#35281 - Cows and tree, Mt Walsh, QLD

#35282 - Calves, Mt Walsh, QLD

Then back into Biggenden (as I also often do).

#35284 - Shop front, Biggenden, QLD

#35292 - Produce store, Biggenden, QLD

#35293 - Old shop front, Biggenden, QLD

#35294 - Disused service station, Biggenden, QLD

#35295 - Engineering works, Biggenden, QLD

Then out past Lunatic Hill.

#35296 - Lunatic Hill, Biggenden, QLD

No that's not my name for the property, you can see it carved into the fence posts in the above photo (sort of). There used to be two blokes that sat out on the road and waved at cars, I don't know the story but assume they were brothers that lived here and that they were not the full quid, hense the name.

It looks like they are selling an old Nissan 4x4, I think I'll pass on that.

#35285 - Car for sale, Lunatic Hill, QLD

Normally I turn off to Booyal to go directly home but today I detour through Childers just for a change. Childers is a great little town and very photogenic. Plus I have friends that live just out of town, maybe I can bludge a cuppa.

#35297 - Laundromat and train line, Biggenden, QLD

#35298 - Quant old awnings, Biggenden, QLD

#35299 - XXXX beer sign, Biggenden, QLD

For my non-Australian readers, XXXX (AKA "four X") is a very common beer in Queensland.

#35287 - Facia and clouds, Childers, QLD

#35286 - Pigeons on finial, Childers, QLD

#35290 - Shops on side street, Childers, QLD

A pleasant enough photo but I think a "vintaged" version would be better.

And yes the clouds are real, I don't swap skies in my photos.
