Life goes on eh?

I'm selling some things that I no longer have a use for and that also have too many memories. And creating things that will be part of my new life.

Till next time then, and remember,

Don't Dream it, Be it!

Fri 09 Sep 2022

I'm a bit sick of the quad. probably shouldn't have bought one but I do still think it will be a useful tool around the place.

Trouble is it's been very unreliable but at least there is a local dealer for them so today I take it into them to be fixed.

One of the locals inspecting my raised garden bed.

Wed 14 Sep 2022

I sold the Jimny today. I did plan to keep it because they are a great little car, but at the end of the day it's just not suitable for my current lifestyle.

Tue 20 Sep 2022

AGAIN?!

I hardly got the quad back from the dealer when it's failed again. This time it's the starter motor so I can't even drive it up onto the trailer, so I have to winch it on.

Wed 21 Sep 2022

I find a cheap steel workbench on the Facebook market place. It's great to have a vehicle that I can just chuck large items onto the tray.

Thu 22 Sep 2022

I do really want to get into bread making but the manual mill I've owned for years is a bit tedious to operate and to be honest that puts me off a bit.

So I've bought an electric one.

The manual mill will still be useful as a backup, but this one will do enough flour for a loaf in seconds whereas I used to get a 20-minute upper-body workout on the manual mill.

One of my old motorhoming friends drops in for a few days.

Sun 25 Sep 2022

Shooting out at Eidsvold yesterday and then I stay with my friends out that way.

They have a large cattle property and I often drop in to help out...or to be honest most of the time just to bludge a cup of coffee.

Tue 27 Sep 2022

I actually make my first loaf using flour from the new mill.

Some tinkering with the security system.

Sat 01 Oct 2022

Today the camera club has an outing at one of the member's cane farm.

The place it littered with 1000s of old machines and interesting subjects, a real gold photographic mine.

Sun 09 Oct 2022

Yesterday I went to a bonfire at a friend's place. A good time was had by all and I slept in the Cruiser last night.

This morning I was up at 5:30 and noticed that Teddy was down getting warm near the ashes. So I walked down there for a chat.

We talked for ages, but then I realised that he was a little horse so I bid him good day and came home.

Tue 11 Oct 2022

I've decided to get more serious about selling the truck, there's little point in keeping it and while it does evoke a lot of memories, that's also the problem with keeping it, it evokes a lot of memories.

So I've put this blurb on a couple of face book groups.

After many years living in and with my ACCO I think it's time to move on. I'll never live in it again and it's a shame to see it not being used.

Therefore I'm looking for expressions of interest to buy it. I don't want a fortune, after 25 years it doesn't owe me a lot, but OTOH I won't give it away.
It has a Perkins 6354 turbo and an Eaton 475 synchro box, 1-meter chassis stretch, rear shockies, commercial grill, and of course a custom house body.

Located near Bundaberg, QLD.

Anyway, if anyone is interested please PM me and we can talk about it.

NOTE: It will need some TLC to get it looking as good as the photos and back on the road, not a lot but I'm an old fart that's done it a few times and I've got neither the energy or the incentive now, plus with the loss of my wife I just don't have the heart to continue with it.

Wed 26 Oct 2022

One of the wheels has been dragging for some time, I think it's a sticking brake so today I pull off the wheel to see if I can get the drum off or at least free it up.

I notice the adjuster. I loosen it off and everything runs freely. That was easy so I spend some time tidying up various things on the truck to make it more presentable to a potential buyer.

Then get back into the workshop extension.

Fri 28 Oct 2022

Got more of the workshop roof done today.

Sat 29 Oct 2022

Shooting out at Eidsvold again, and when done I wander around the town looking for some photos.

Sun 30 Oct 2022

Stephan comes to look at the truck today. We talk about it for a couple of hours then he offers me his hand, it's sold. He'll be back in a week or so to drive it home.

Sat 05 Nov 2022

While driving to the range last month I noticed a quarry on the side of the road and thought "Hmmm, I could get some rocks from that"

So this month I go to the range with the ute and pick up a load, that will go a long way towards filling in the workshop floor.

Mon 07 Nov 2022

I went to bottle the latest homebrew batch today and got a nasty surprise. No beer for me for a while.

Thu 10 Nov 2022

One of the mango trees has actually started growing fruit.

But it's too small to be putting energy into that so I cut them off.

Wed 16 Nov 2022

Finished the workshop roof.

This is why women live longer than men

Comment  ::   Hi Rob, I've been reading everything you've published since Wot1. I've been following your mantra in life as well of just do it, and I just love your general approach to life...
It saddens me that you've lost Chris now, but I'm happy that you see also the rest of life as opportunities.
On my way traveling to Australia in 2018, and actually having a little idea of trying to look you guys up, I ended up in Philippines, and met a woman there that changed my life. In 2020 I tried again, but the flight was cancelled due to some Chinese flu, and I ended up spending 2 years in the jungle with my Filipina and her entire family. Now me and her are back in Europe, trying to make ends meet. We're in the process of buying a van and travel Europe. We're poor as church rats, but work together painting houses and earning our way in life. I'm actually Danish, but haven't lived north of the Alps for many years now. We've purchased a piece of land in Spain, that will be our base.
I just want you to know that you're a constant inspiration to me. So thank you for all that through the years. I wish you everything good, and I will always return to read up on whatever you publish. Of course I also follow your YouTube channel, and watch everything there. My wife is the publisher in our relationship, I just do as I'm told!

Comment  ::   Hi Jesper,

Sorry for the delayed response, my internet has been down for nearly 4 weeks now, a mixed blessing as I've spent more time outside

As for meeting a woman that changes one's life, I now know all about that. More info if I ever get around to finishing the next chronicle. As you know I've been pretty slack in that department this last year, somehow blogs and Youtube didn't seem all that important. I'm still not sure that they are, but we'll see.

You've had an interesting couple of years it seems, life wasn't meant to be boring eh?

Comment  ::   I'm disappointed Rob, I'm ok with the ladder on the ute but I couldn't see the front end loader bucket holding up the rear wheels of the ute. Obviously the extension roof isn't high enough ;)
keep having good ones mate
cheers

Comment  ::   Yeah the roof wasn't high enough for that, the one I'm working on now is though, maybe I need to buy a loader
