Crocodile springs to life

We had been told of a spot on the Mara River where two crocodiles had been seen. One on each side of the river. On reaching the place I could see the croc on the far side but not the one on my side.

Nevertheless I decided to go down to the bank to get closer for a shot of the one I could see.

I lay on the sand for a while, ever mindful of the second croc and keeping an eye out, when this one sprang into life and ran towards me.

With the 500mm lens he seemed a lot closer and I nearly wet myself, but still managed to fire a shot as I rolled to my feet and ran, much to the mirth of a busload of Japanese tourists that had just arrived.
