Where did the time go?
Over thirty years ago Vicky was the singer in a band that included some of the crowd I hung around with. We were all single and life was good, but eventually we went our separate ways, and I lost touch.
Recently however I caught up again with Vicky. To my eyes she looked pretty much as I remembered her, an older version but then who isn’t? The thing that blew me away though was the fact that, not only does she have children, but her eldest is deciding which university to attend.
Yikes, she wasn’t married, where did the time go?
It seems like yesterday that I was wearing a paisley shirt and helping to mix the sound for the band in a smoke-filled pub somewhere on the south coast.
If you’re forty- or fifty-something similar situations must have happened to you. Maybe you find yourself watching the tenth anniversary episode of a TV show, and you can remember the first episode like it was yesterday.
Or maybe you’ve been scanning some old photos and thinking it seems like last week when that crowd was helping you celebrate your 21st.
Whatever, the thing is that the next 20 or 30 years
will go even quicker, assuming of course that they are made available
to you at all.
